In September, we had just one contestant: the micronation of Flandrensis.
For their participation in World Clean-up Day, they take the top spot (for now!) after cleaning up a large area in their neighbourhood.
This brings them close to winning the main prize for this year.

Since 2021, World Clean-up Day has been a national holiday in Flandrensis. But of course, caring for our planet is not just about one day a year. When people join Flandrensis, they commit to following our ecological pillars.
Our 6th pillar is “Make your hands dirty” , which means that clean-up actions are a regular part of our community life. If you follow us on social media, you’ll often see photos of citizens taking part in clean-up efforts and other eco-friendly events.
In return, every Flandrensian is honoured as a Knight of the Order of the Melting Mountain, a modern knighthood dedicated to protecting our environment.
But for me World Clean-up Day is an opportunity to show Flandrensis in the neighbourhood and to participate with my kids together with other volunteers.
For October, the theme is World Animal Day!
