  • Monthly Theme: November Winners and December Announcement

    So it’s the last month of the year. Almost time to look back at everything that happened and what’s planned for 2026. But that’s for another post. First, to announce the winners of November.

    The theme for November is Black Friday Micronations Sales. Almost every Micronation has an online store. So this month you can promote 1 article from your store (with or without discount). Paste an image together with the url of your webstore in the correct (2025-10) discord monthly channel. To show how people can support you and promote your store item!

    So for November, there was only 1 entry from Flandrensis. Who promoted one of his medals:

    For this theme I chose the Grand Ducal Antarctic Preservation Medal

    This medal (design 2024) has the “Grand Duchy of Flandrensis – Antarctica” in the language ‘Flandriaans’. It shows an animal half lion and half penguin , a reference to our national animal and our coat of arms. This medal is for sale to everyone who want to financially support Flandrensis. For each sold medal 5 EUR will be donated to an ecological charity supported by Flandrensian citizens.     I find it a missed opportunity for people to show something from their micronation to promote their store. Like stamps for the Stamp Lovers out there etc. But it is what it is. That sets the current standing:

    3nd place: Mekniy-Lurk with 1 point.
    4th place: The Kingdom of Pontuni with 1 point.

    Monthly Theme for December

    This December, we’re marking the Month of Giving. When charity initiatives around the world take centre stage across radio and TV. Everyone is encouraged to spotlight a cause close to their heart, and MicroWiki will donate to the project that stands out the most.

    For instance, in Belgium the chosen charity theme this year is “invisible illnesses,” meaning conditions you can’t always detect just by looking at someone. A large number of people struggle silently with their mental health, and there are organisations dedicated to supporting them. So if I were to participate in the competition, I would look for an organisation that helps those living with mental illness.

  • First Monthly Theme: September #WorldCleanupDay

    Starting this September, MicroWiki will launch a monthly theme that every micronation can take part in. By working together as a community, we can show how micronations can make a positive difference in the world.

    Participants who share proof of their involvement in the designated Discord channel will receive a digital medal. In addition, every entry will earn ranking points, awarded in order from highest to lowest based on the total number of participants. The more people who join, the more points there are to earn.

    At the end of the year, the top 3 micronations will be awarded a prize. The type of prize will depend on the focus and projects of each winning micronation.

    The first monthly theme will be about #WorldCleanupDay:

    World Cleanup Day 2025 takes place on 20 September, bringing together millions of volunteers worldwide to tackle the global waste crisis.

    This year, the UN-recognized event focuses on textile waste, one of the fastest-growing environmental problems. With over 100 billion garments produced each year and 92 million tonnes ending up as waste, the campaign calls for action to reduce overconsumption, extend the life of clothes, and promote recycling.

    World Cleanup Day is more than a one-day cleanup—it’s a global movement driving lasting change for a cleaner, healthier planet.

    The timeframe for sending in entries is from the 1e of September until the 30th of September.

    Submissions should be posted in the designated Discord channel (Monthly theme → 2025-09). Each participant is required to include a photograph featuring their flag along with a brief description of their activity.

    Some examples of what you can do is: Clean out your closet and donate unnecessary clothes to homeless people, or bring them in for recycling, anything that has to do with textile waste.
